Catechists Needed for Middle School Youth Ministry

Jesus’ great commission calls us, as members of the Body of Christ, to continue his mission begun more than 20 centuries ago. If you are willing to exercise faith and trust that Jesus is always with us, you may find that becoming a catechist is a distinct and irreplaceable way to answer God’s call. Pope John Paul II put it this way: Like John the Baptist, the catechist, too, is called to point out Jesus as the awaited Messiah, the Christ. The catechist’s task is to invite people to fix their gaze on Jesus and to follow Him, for Jesus alone is the Teacher, the Lord, and the Savior.

Being a catechist comes with many rewards and blessings including:

  • The best way to learn is to teach.
  • Your own faith will come alive.
  • You become an active participant in one of the essential responsibilities of a Church community.
  • You assist in bringing Christ to others.
  • You practice stewardship.
  • You show your own family that you value the Faith.

Being a catechist brings joy! Our combined St. Charles and St. Matthias Middle School Youth Ministry (MSYM) program meets every other Wednesday evening from 5:00-6:00pm. The program starts on Sept 14th. (Registration for students entering grades 5-8 will begin in August.) Adult and high school volunteers are welcome!
