St. Matthias Book Club Series

St. Matthias Book Club Series

Racial Justice and the Catholic Church, written by Reverend Bryan N. Massingale, theologian and racial justice scholar, addresses the thorny issue of racial justice past and present.

Father Massingale is Professor of Theological and Social Ethics, as well as the Senior Ethics Fellow in Fordham’s Center for Ethics Education. Prior to his appointment at Fordham, he was Professor of Theology at Marquette University. Massingale writes from experience and conviction that the Catholic faith and the black experience make essential contributions in the continuing struggle against racial injustice.

This discussion series, offered as a "book club" by the Justice & Charity Commission of St. Matthias Church, seeks to educate participants about Catholic teachings on racism and about racial justice within the Catholic Church. Participants are asked to purchase the book before beginning the program. This sixweek, virtual series will include prayer, reading, reflection, and discussion about the book.

Mondays: December 6, 13, 20 and January 10, 17, and 24 Google Meet, 7:00 - 8:00 PM

Technical support will be provided for all participants. For questions, or to register, contact the St. Matthias Parish office at sabrina@stmatthiasparish.org. or 650-366-9544
