Bible Study: The Prophets of the Old Testament

Deacon Rich presents an online, nine-week Bible Study on Mondays, beginning April 12. Participants can choose to attend sessions at either 10:00-11:30 AM, or 7:00-8:30 PM. In his Letter to the Hebrews (1:1-2), St. Paul writes, “In many and various ways God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets; but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son…” Who were the prophets? What were their roles in their own times? How should we read and understand their prophetic messages? It is nearly impossible to understand the works and messages of Jesus without an understanding of the prophetic books of the Old Testament. While we cannot study every prophet, we will focus on the messages of the major prophets and a few minor prophets within their historical and theological contexts.

All are welcome—no prior experience necessary. Please bring your own Bible, notepad, and pen to each session. Handouts and slides will be shared. While any Catholic Bible can be used, the preferred Bibles are the New Revised Standard Version and The New American Bible. Please join us for any or all sessions.
