St. Vincent de Paul Stay Warm Campaign for Homeless
The homeless in San Mateo County are in great need. The County doesn’t have enough shelter beds to care for its residents. Now that the weather has turned cold, the numbers are rising. At times, the best SVdP can offer is a warm, dry sleeping bag, coat, socks, gloves and a hat. These items are important now more than ever. When there’s no affordable indoor shelter, people—even people with jobs—sleep under buildings, in back seats of cars, and on the street. Many homeless in our area will not be able to survive the cold and wet weather because they lack critical survival necessities and cold weather gear to protect themselves from exposure to hypothermia and other potential lifethreatening conditions.
Your donation of $30 would provide gloves, hats and scarves for three people; $100 gives jackets and rain gear to a family of five.
