Progress! Scripture Camp 2019 Needs 3 More Full-Week (Mornings - Camp is 1/2 day format) Adult Volunteers
In the past we have taken a "if we build it, they will come" approach to volunteers but unfortunately building the Camp has not resulted in enough new volunteers jumping in -- so this year there will be no camper sign-ups and no junior leader interview process until we have a full complement of adult full-week volunteers.   A big thank you to those who have already volunteered - what bearers of hope!
We still need basically 3 adult full-week volunteers -- in the end it depends a little on which areas are covered but still we are a little less than half way there.  Also please note that we are very happy to have grandparents, godparents, cousins, aunts/uncles, other family members or parishioners as volunteers -- all are welcome!
We want to have this volunteer effort completed in the next few weeks as we know families will be signing their children up for other camps at a certain point which is completely understandable.  I hesitate to put a specific date deadline but by next week, we will have to set a firm end date/cancellation date.
As some added input, I wanted to let you know why I have volunteered for 15 years.  I started because my two older sons (8 and 6 years old) came home from the first day of Camp and declared that they had to come back again the following year.  Anything that can mean so much to my children so quickly was something I want to join.  My three sons and I have beautiful memories of spending that week together for 14 years - both when they were campers and later as junior leaders.  [This past year was the first without a son in attendance.  For 12 of those years I worked full-time but was fortunate to be able take vacation for the mornings.]
Please let me know if you would attend an informational meeting - the last ones were only attended by already committed volunteers to show their support.  I am happy to meet but want it to be at a convenient time and want it to be meaningful!  I can explain how the Camp works and explore what areas grab your interest.  [I can also do this by phone.]
The planned dates are Monday June 24th through Friday June 28th - 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.  I understand that there was a potential conflict with another camp but that has been resolved so Scripture Camp (if it happens) will be the only camp that week at St. Charles.
Finally I ask for your prayers and good thoughts that we will have enough support for Camp to happen!
Thank you for considering.  Please contact me if you are at all interested!
