Home and Hope

Home and Hope is a ministry in which our parish participates together with other churches in San Carlos. The purpose of this ministry is to provide housing and meals to homeless families.

How the Ministry Works

Every week, three to five homeless families are housed in large tents inside the hall of a church in the county area.  Currently St. Charles participates on Tuesdays and Fridays whenever Epiphany Episcopal, Trinity Presbyterian, or Holy Trinity Lutheran, host the families. This occurs approximately 6 times a year.

We provide: 

• The meal and hospitality that evening.
• One or two people, who sleep over to provide for security and get everyone up, breakfasted, and out by 7:00 AM the next morning.
• Assistance in setup and tear down on Sundays for the hosting Parish.   

The teams are led by a few of the program veterans. One person takes the menu lead, prepares the entrée and works with the rest of the team to complete the meal preparation (usually brought from home). We then clean up and spend some time with the families as appropriate. Training is provided by those with prior experience with/by Home and Hope.
